Australia's 2019 mineral exploration spending rises

Total spending on exploration for deposits of base metals, iron ore, coal and gold in Australia reached a seven-year high in 2019. Minerals exploration spending rose to A$2.66bn ($1.71bn), up by 21.6pc from A$2.18bn in 2018 and was the highest since the A$3.66bn spent in 2012, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
