New York state eyes more offshore wind

New York state is gearing up for taking another step toward achieving its goal of putting 9,000MW of offshore wind power into operation by 2035. The New York State Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is planning to issue a solicitation this summer for at least 1,000MW of new projects. The agency yesterday asked the state Public Service Commission for permission to move ahead with the request for proposals, which would be the state's second to date for offshore wind.
