Japan’s battery demand outlook unclear

Japan’s future battery consumption is uncertain despite the country’s strategy to shift to electric vehicles (EVs) from gasoline-fuelled cars, according to a domestic industry body, with Japanese companies hesitating to invest more in the battery sector. “The country’s battery demand is largely depending on which type of EVs will be the largest share in the market towards the 2030s” said the chairman of Japan's battery association for supply chain (BASC) Isao Abe.
