China’s January car sales rise

China’s car sales rose in January, partly because of a low base comparison with the same month last year when Covid-19 lockdown measures in the country began. Car sales rose by 26.8pc in January to 2.05mn, according to the China association of automobile manufacturers. Sales of sedan cars rose by 32pc and sports utility vehicles by 25pc. Car production rose by 32.4pc to 1.91mn.
