Viewpoint: Low supply to spur global Sb market

The global antimony market is expected to hold firm or rise in 2022 in view of tight feedstock supply and potential growth in demand from new energy industries. China is the largest antimony supplier globally, with abundant antimony resources in its southern provinces. But its reserves have been gradually declining after years of mining activity. Domestic antimony reserves were estimated at 480,000t in 2020, accounting for 25pc of total reserves globally, down from 52pc in 2013 and 35pc in 2016, according to US Geological Survey statistics.
