Metal futures: Markets recover, assess variant

Most base metal prices on the London Metal Exchange (LME) rose in Monday's official morning session as markets calmed and recouped some losses incurred Friday when reports of the emergence of the newly identified Omicron Covid-19 variant upended global sentiment. The three-month LME copper contract rose by 1pc to $9,610/t, while Comex’s next most active month copper contract increased by 1.2pc to $4.34/lb.
