BHP starts Ni sulphate plant at Kwinana

UK-Australian resources firm BHP has produced the first nickel sulphate crystals from its plant in Kwinana, Western Australia, signalling the long-awaited arrival of a major new source of supply for the seaborne market. Kwinana is Australia's first nickel sulphate plant and when fully operational will produce 100,000 t/yr, which is sufficient to produce around 700,000 batteries, BHP said.
