South32 ups stake in Mozambique's Mozal Al smelter

Diversified Australian metals producer South32 has exercisedits rights to acquire up to a further 25pc holding in the Mozal Aluminium smelter in Mozambique, lifting its annualisedequity share of aluminium production by 15pc (145,000t) to1.14mn t in South Africa and Mozambique.It will acquire the stake from MCA Metals Holding (Mitsubishi) for $250mn, taking its ownership of the smelter to72.1pc from 47.1pc, the Perth-based firm said.
