China: Limited demand keeps prices stable

Prices for ferro-molybdenum and ferro-vanadium were flatin the past few days because of limited demand from steelmills ahead of the 1-7 October National Day holiday.Domestic prices for 60pc grade alloy were assessed today at152,000-155,000 yuan/t ex-works, or Yn253-258/kg ($39.13-39.90/kg) for contained molybdenum, steady following a fallyesterday from the 28 September assessment of Yn152,000-156,000/t. Alloy producers lowered prices slightly yesterday to promote sales given lower tender prices and weakdemand from steelmakers. They maintained prices todaybecause of limited market activity ahead of the 1-7 Octoberholiday. Export prices for the alloy were assessed at $40-40.50/kg fob today, down by $0.50/kg from 28 September.
