摘要

Naphthalimide-based compounds 1-4, which show excellent gelation from semi aqueous solvents in the presence of Ag+ ions over a series of other metal ions have been synthesized. While compounds 1-3 form gel in the presence of Ag+ ion in DMF-H2O(1:1, v/v), compound 4, devoid of pyridine, acts as non gelator under identical conditions. The gels reveal rock and fibrous like morphologies and show good viscoelastic response as established from rheological study. Ag-gels of 1-3 exhibit excellent ion conduction property along with other attributes in material chemistry. Ion transport properties within the gels are analyzed by evaluating the different electrical parameters viz. ion conductivity, ion diffusivity and concentration of mobile ions at different temperatures using impedance spectroscopy. Despite identical concentration of metal ion precursor within the gels, a strong gelator-dependent conduction property is observed. Furthermore, the Ag-gels as soft functional materials discriminate L-cysteine from other amino acids and show good response in drug delivery and dye adsorption from wastewater.
