Senate Republican leaders are expected to unveil their COVID-19 aid plan. The plan is going to be smaller than the House-passed aid package. It will extend weekly unemployment benefits, but reduce the payments from $600. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin says the White House is seeking to propose a cap on unemployment benefits that would restore up to 70% of lost wages. And White House economic advisor Larry Kudlow said it would contain an extension of the federal eviction moratorium. For agriculture, the Senate plan would provide general guidance to USDA, leaving more discretionary authority to USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue, a concern point for House Ag Committee Chairman Collin Peterson (D-Minn.). Once the plan is released, Peterson is expected to hold a press event.
