EU delegation to South Africa hits back at claims it encouraged industry to lobby health ministry

The EU delegation to South Africa has rejected claims by the European Alcohol Policy Alliance (Eurocare) that it was trying to get Europe’s alcohol industry to lobby the South African health ministry against alcohol bans. The delegation had written to “Friends from the EU alcoholic beverage industry” suggesting they needed to get involved in the “conversation” that the health ministry was holding on how to tackle harmful drinking.
