TC Energy cancels open season for Keystone Pipeline after KXl suspension

Houston—TC Energy said Feb. 12 it will cancel an open season for 80,000 b/d of crude capacity on its existing Keystone Pipeline System now that the planned Keystone XL expansion is indefinitely suspending following the yanking of its federal permitting by President Joe Biden. TC Energy, which already plans to add 50,000 b/d of capacity to Keystone later this year, had planned for extra contracts and volumes on the current Keystone system starting in 2023 to coincide with the transfer of volumes to Keystone XL. However, Biden’s executive order on day one of his presidency renders those plans null and void.
