New Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has nominated Javad Owji to be the country’s new oil minister, state television reported on Aug. 11, at a critical time for the OPEC producer as nuclear deal talks with the US on sanctions relief remain in the balance. The nominee must be confirmed by Parliament. He would succeed Bijan Zanganeh, who has previously said OPEC and its allies will handle any return of Iranian crude to the market “well.”
