Chile’s Codelco gets approval to extend Radomiro Tomic copper mine

Environmental authorities in northern Chile have approved plans by copper producer Codelco to extend the life of its Radomiro Tomic mine to the end of the decade, the mining company said March 16. The original project was due to close next year but by extending the life of the existing SX-EW operations and incorporating sulfide resources, the mine will be able to continue operating until 2030, Codelco said.
