Eastman to Build New World-Scale Facility for Plastic-to-Plastic Molecular Recycling

Kinssport— Eastman Chemical Co. said it plans to build "one of the world's largest" plastic-to-plastic molecular recycling facilities at its site in Kingsport, Tenn. The company will invest around $250-million in the plant, which will utilize the company's polyester renewal technology. The facility will convert over 100,000 tons of polyester waste into premium, high-quality specialty plastics, creating an optimized circular economy, Eastman noted. Mechanical completion is expected by the end of next year.
