Montney Merger Highlights Canada Shale Boom

Calgary-based unconventional producers Arc Resources and Seven Generations Energy have agreed to merge in a deal that continues the trend of corporate consolidation in the booming Montney Shale. The all-stock, “no premium” combination, with an enterprise value of around C$8.1 billion (US$6.4 billion), will create Canada’s sixth-largest upstream oil and natural gas company and the country’s largest condensate producer, as well as the largest pure-play Montney operator.
