Eni sets 2050 carbon neutrality target, sees major growth in LNG sales by 2024

Eni has become the latest European energy major to raise its climate target, after vowing on Friday to become carbon neutral by 2050. Eni will fully decarbonise all of its “products and processes by 2050,” the firm’s CEO Claudio Descalzi said on Friday, adding that the strategy “is a target, not an aspiration”. Eni said gas “will support the energy transition” and expects the fuel set to represent more than 90% of its production “in the long term”, with Eni expecting to grow its LNG sales by 45% by 2024, compared to 2020.
