Cemex looks to reduce exposure to pricey coke

Mexican cement company Cemex plans to use more alternative fuels in 2021, as the cost of traditional fossil fuel energy rises and supply chain disruptions ease. “What we are expecting this year is for [petroleum] coke prices to increase,” Cemex chief executive Fernando Gonzalez said on 11 February. “We are constantly looking for the best balance of our fuels. As you can imagine, we are planning to increase our alternative fuel proportion in our fuel mix.”
