The linkages between person-organization spirituality fit and workers' psychological well-being

There is a lack of guidance in the existing literature on the link between spirituality and psychology in the workplace. The present study seeks to emphasize the theoretical importance that workplace spirituality may contribute to the psychology literature. Specifically, the study aims to examine how Person-Organization (P-O) spirituality fit may enhance the psychological (eudaimonic) well-being of employees. Drawing on a questionnaire-based survey, with data collected from a diverse sample of 231 individuals in the service sector in Jordan (health, education and bank sectors), the results show a congruity between workers' spirituality and the spirituality of their workplace, and this congruity significantly enhances the perceivedP-O spirituality fit. The results also show that employees who experience spirituality at work have higher psychological (eudaimonic) well-being. This study's unique contribution is that it improves our understanding of the link between spirituality and psychology by testing a novel theoretical framework (P-O fit).
