Effects of pre-existing abdominal scar on postoperative complications after autologous breast reconstruction using abdominal flaps: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Background: A previous abdominal scar is generally considered as a challenge for breast reconstruction using abdominal flaps. Since it may interfere with the perfusion of abdominal tissue and weaken the abdominal fascia, many plastic surgeons are concerned about the theoretical risk of postoperative complications. This study aims to assess the effects of previous scar on complications in abdominal flap-based breast reconstruction.
