Zimbabwe initiates another campaign to revive ZiscoSteel

The government of Zimbabwe intends to intensify work on resuming operations at Zimbabwe Iron and Steel Company (ZiscoSteel) in Redcliff, Midlands province, Metal Expert learnt from local sources. During a briefing of inter-ministerial team, the newly constituted board of ZiscoSteel informed the Industry Minister Sekai Nzenza about the on-going development of strategic and business plans with a view to remodel the industry by making a business case that attracts investment, restores competitiveness, and builds capacity throughout the value chain of the iron and steel industry in Zimbabwe. Meanwhile, the minister mentioned that ZiscoSteel's revival remains a top priority of the government as the country loses up to USD 1.1 billion annually in steel imports.
