Think globally, act safely

On 19 May, national standards bodies across the world started voting on the second draft international standard of the proposed health and safety management system standard ISO 45001, known as DIS2, which is set to replace the British Standard OHSAS 18001. It has taken four years for the drafting process to get to this stage, as progress was derailed by the rejection of the first draft in May 2016. Optimists now believe that the finished standard could be published this autumn, while pessimists - factoring in a possible third draft - are looking towards spring 2018.
