摘要

Jason Palmer, SAP, USA, describes recent shifts in midstream, outlines the technology that is transforming operations and explains what this means for the future of the workforce. Prior to the pandemic, the oil and gas industry was in the midst of its digital transformation. Businesses across the globe have invested in digital infrastructure and IT spend continues to increase year-over-year. Machine learning, IoT, automation and advanced analytics have increased operation agility by optimising costs and diversifying molecules to identify new business opportunities. As this year's events have shown us, a global pipeline network needs the resources and flexibility to support dynamic shifts, whether it is a shift in geopolitics, a natural disaster or a volatile market due to disruptions like COVID-19. These compounding complexities have recently highlighted the large gaps that exist between the midstream organisations that are agile enough to meet new demands and minimise disruption, and those that are not.
