China March finished steel exports rise 16% on year to hit 4-year high

China's finished steel exports rose 16% year on year to 7.542 million mt in March, a fouryear high, after posting a 30% on year jump in January-February, customs data showed April 13. Exports were expected to moderate in April and May, but remain higher than the 4.43 million mt/month averaged in the fourth quarter of 2020, according to S&P Global Platts Analytics. Platts Analytics continues to forecast China's finished steel exports at 65 million mt steel exports in 2021, up about 11 million mt or 21% from 2020. China's finished steel exports over January-March rose 3.4 million mt or 24% on year to 17.682 million mt, the customs data showed.
