Where does oil fit in IOCs'brave green world?

The past year has seen international oil companies(IOCs)stepping up the development of their energy transition strategies and sketching out bolder targets for cutting emissions and"greening"their business models.But they have not stopped being oil and gas companies overnight.They are still producing and investing in oil and gas,and will continue to do so for years,if not decades.That leaves them with a challenge-how to justify this investment to increasingly climate-conscious shareholders,policy makers and other stakeholders,many of whom are already sceptical about the industry's commitment to its new low-carbon goals?
