New information on King Philip IIgarden at the Casa del Campo in Madrid

Between December 1548 and May 1550, Prince Philip of Habsburg, later King Philip II of Spain, was on his 'felicisimo viaje very happy journey ', during which he had the opportunity to visit a number of important towns in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, and Flanders, including Genoa, Mantua, Cremona, Milan, Innsbruck, Munich, Ulm, Brussels, and Ghent. According to Juan Cristobal Calvete de Estrella, Binche was especially amazing due to the rich combination of paintings and tapestries in its halls and corridors, as well as the several coats of amis donewith herbs and flowers found in its gardens.
