摘要

The life of hard-alloy end mills with blunting of the cutting edge is compared in the presence and absence of a TiAlN PVD coating. The workpiece considered is VT6 titanium alloy; the coating is applied on an Eifeler Alpha 400p system. On that basis, a method is proposed for extending the life of monolithic mills with a PVD (physical vapor deposition) coating, by optimizing the blunting of the cutting edge.
