The September gas futures contract slid a few pennies Monday to the mid-$2.90s per million Btu as the market waits for above-normal temperatures to arrive. Updated forecasts still call for the return of seasonable heat to parts of the East Coast and Great Lakes over the next few weeks. The contract moved 2.4￠ lower to close at $2.959/MMBtu and traded in a range from $2.925 to $3.018. The 12- month strip fell 0.6￠ to $3.046, while the 2018 strip was up 0.1￠ at $3.021 (Futures contracts).
