Protecting Those Who Protect

Every firefighter knows that facing the flames without protective turnout gear is a recipe for disaster. But not nearly enough fire service professionals ever give a thought to the station wear that is worn underneath. Common sense dictates that turnout gear should be flame resistant (FR), but the need for FR station wear is often overlooked. It is important to remember that even though turnout gear is the first line of defense against heat and flame and usually completely covers the clothing worn underneath, FR station wear can still play an important role in maximizing safety.
