april LnG imports down, spot prices up

Japan imported 4.98mn t of LNG in April, down by 3.1pc from a year earlier and by 30.2pc from March, fnance ministry preliminary data released on 20 May indi- cate. High inventories had discouraged utilities from buying extra cargoes. Japan cut deliveries from Middle East suppliers, with April imports from the region down by 22.2pc on a year earlier to 514,000t. Supplies from other regions — including Australia, Papua New Guinea and Brunei — fell by 12.6pc to 2.39mn t.
