Shell's second-quarter LNG sales rise

Shell sold more LNG in the second quarter of this year than a year earlier. LNG sales rose to 17.97mn t in April-June from 16.08mn t a year earlier. The higher sales were partly the result of an increase in the company's liquefaction volumes, which rose to 8.46mn t from 8.09mn t. This was despite the firm's 13.28pc divestment of its stake in Australian independent Woodside Petroleum in November, Shell says. Woodside owns the 4.3mn t/yr Pluto LNG plant in Western Australia and has a 13pc stake in the Chevron-operated 8.9mn t/yr Wheatstone project. Wheatstone's first train started production in October last year.
