As COVID-19 restrictions begin to lift and more people are getting vaccinated, it looks like summer vacations are back on the table. For some people, though, those vacation dreams may stall out. Across the country, travelers face high fees at the car rental counter, and they are the lucky ones. Many rental car companies have a shortage of cars, and booking is difficult. Autoweek reported that the big names in car rentals have not yet recovered from the pandemic and have sold off significant portions of their fleets. These shortages are expected to continue through the summer months.
