摘要

Major advances in the diagnosis and treatment of BIA-ALCL in recent years have led to significant improvements in overall and disease-free survival. Most notably, en bloc resection alone is capable of achieving complete remission for most of the cases and is now the standard of care. Despite the removal of the high-risk devices from the United States and other markets around the world, the number of cases will continue to increase for the foreseeable future. Given that a significant number of patients worldwide still live with these devices, research to understand the cause of the disease and clarify individual risk profiles must continue. Only through these efforts can plastic surgeons have informed discussions with their patients about BIA-ALCL.
