Fourth CMD revision proposes exposure limits for three carcinogens

The European Commission has proposed limiting worker exposure to three carcinogens as part of its continuous revision of the carcinogens and mutagens Directive (CMD). The proposed fourth revision to the CMD would see two chemicals added to the 26 substances for which the Commission has already proposed or established EU-wide, mandatory limits. They are: acrylonitrile with a binding occupational exposure limit (OEL) of one milligram per square metre (mg/m~3) or 0.45 parts per million (ppm) for eight-hour time weighted average exposure and a short-term limit value of 4mg/m~3 (1.8ppm); and
