EU-wide restriction on PAHs in rubber crumb set for early 2021 adoption

A joint proposal by Echa and the Netherlands to restrict eight polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) found in rubber crumb is expected to be adopted by the European Commission in spring next year. The restriction proposal lowers the total concentration limit of the carcinogenic PAHs to 20mg/kg (0.002% by weight) – down from the current limit of 100mg/kg or 1,000mg/kg in mixtures supplied to the general public.
