Switzerland plans changes to rules on chemicals

The Swiss federal office of public health has proposed several changes to its chemicals ordinance in a bid to align laws with those in force in the EU. The revision aims to modernise the procedure for notifying new substances. Currently, only substances that are not on the list of existing substances (Einecs) must be notified with a defined set of data before being placed on the market. The federal office now proposes that all substances that are not registered in the EU must be notified.
