A novel H3PW12O40 center dot 6H(2)O (HPW)-decorated ring-like Fe2O3 was synthesized via mechanical-chemistry grinding of HPW and Fe2O3 nanorings prepared by a microwave-assisted hydrothermal method. The catalyst presented nearly 100% NOx conversion at 300-400 degrees C, a wide temperature window of 250-500 degrees C with a NOx conversion above 90%, and an outstanding resistance against SO2 for the selective catalytic reduction of NOx by NH3 with a space velocity of 13,200 h(-1). The synergistic interaction of HPW polyoxoanions and Fe species, which occurs on both external and internal surfaces of the nanorings, plays a significant role in the excellent NH3-SCR performance.
