Sometimes a crisis completely reshuffles the deck, and other times it just accelerates a development that was underway already. There are countless examples of the COVID-19 pandemic doing the former; an example of the latter involves manufacturing automation, which was already trending before and is now being adopted even faster as more firms look to maintain social distancing between plant floor workers. So, almost a year and a half into the crisis, this seems like a good time to check in and look at some of the newest robotic automation technologies on the market, some of which were set to be unveiled at the NPE2021 trade show until - speaking of shuffling the deck - it was cancelled.
