This article was initiated by one of my copper clad postcards. The postcard is of the Beehive House of Brigham Young in Salt Lake City. Here are some of the events in Brigham Young's life. Brigham was born June 1, 1801 in Whitingham, Vermont to John and Abigail (Nabby) Young. Brigham had ten siblings: Nancy, Fanny, Rhoda, John Jr., Nabby, Susannah, Joseph, Phinehas Howe, Louisa, and Lorenzo Dow. His mother died of tuberculosis when he was 14. Brigham was kicked out of the house when he was 16. Thus he became an apprentice to learn carpentry, painting, and glazing trades.
