摘要

likelihood of patients being admitted or accessing healthcare services who are currently asymptomatic but incubating norovirus. This second group are the ones most likely to cause outbreaks owing to the fact that they are usually allocated a bed in a bay alongside other patients. Eventually, they become symptomatic, exposing other patients to norovirus who, because of its highly infectious nature, are themselves highly likely to become symptomatic. This results in bays and wards being closed until all patients either become or remain asymptomatic for 48 hours (the duration of the norovirus incubation period).
