Post-installed reinforcing bar connections are common in daily construction practice since decades. They are used in new construction projects as well as for renovations or changes of use. Up to now, the areas of application of injection systems qualified according to EAD 330087-00-0601 have been limited to overlap joints, end anchorages of simply supported beams, reinforcing bars under compression loading and anchoring to cover the envelope line of acting tensile forces in bending members. The new technical report EOTA TR 069 "Design method for anchorages of post-installed reinforcing bars (rebars) with improved bond-splitting behaviour as compared to EN 1992-1-1" for the first time regulates the design and execution of reinforcement connections for rigid concrete to concrete joints on a European level without execution as overlap joint. In the context of this article, the areas of application of the new technical report TR 069 and the new qualification procedure according to EAD 332402-00-0601 are explained. Furthermore, the design verification steps according to EOTA TR 069 are explained. Additional example calculations of rigid connections additionally illustrate the advantages that result in both design and execution.
