IES Biogas looks at Europe's rapidly growing biogas and biomethane industry and its role in achieving net-zero by 2050 Fast-developing renewable gases in Europe

According to the latest reports the European Biogas Association(EBA),the expected potential for biogas and biomethane in Europe is 39 billion cubic meters(m~3) of natural gas equivalent by 2030 and 120 billion m~3 by 2050.The Gas for Climate consortium,which consists of 10 European gas transport companies including Snam and two renewable gas industry associations(Consorzio Italiano Biogas and EBA),estimates that by 2030,the share of biomethane in European networks could reach 5-8%.Not by chance,this sector is part of one of the key strategies of the EU aimed at achieving the ambitious emissions reduction target of 55% by 2030 and achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
