Dhaka-Bangladesh could face millions of dollars in penalties from privately-owned power plants for failing to supply them with gas as contracted. In the past two year, the power division of the country's Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources awarded contracts to eight gas-fired power plants, agreeing to supply gas in exchange for them producing power for the national grid, Petrobangla Chairman Hussain Monsur said Friday, adding that the govern- ment approved the agreements despite objec- tions from Petrobangla.
