Tokyo—Japan’s imports of Iranian crude fell to 128,544 b/d in June from 238,533 million b/d in May, a month-on-month drop of 46%, preliminary figures released by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry showed. The June figure represents a 38.1% fall from the 207,812 b/d imported in the same month of 2012. The data was in line with a July 5 estimate by Platts that Japan’s June imports from Iran were expected to be in the region of 4 million barrels.
