Tethys asked to leave Tajik exploration JV

London—Canada-listed Tethys Petroleum has been asked to withdraw from its Tajik exploration joint venture by Total and China’s CNPC, adding to a catalogue of misfortunes involving Central Asian independents. Tethys was one of Central Asia’s more highprofile independents, with operations across the region, and in 2013 hailed a deal to bring Total and CNPC into its Tajik exploration license.
