New delay for LNG terminal at Taichung

Singapore-The scheduled startup of Taiwan's Taichung LNG terminal, the island's second LNG import facility, has slipped again because of weather-related construction delays, with completion now expected in the first quarter of 2009, a senior official told Platts November 17. The 3 million mt/year Taichung terminal in central Taiwan was originally scheduled to open in January, but delays in the construction of a pipeline linking it with the Tatan power plant resulted in the first postponement to August (ON 12/13/07). Subsequently, typhoons and strong sea currents continued to slow work on the project.
