Beach in no rush to sell Cooper Basin assets: official

Adelaide—The shale and tight gas projects held by Australia’s Beach Energy in the onshore Cooper Basin are attracting a “very high level” of interest from industry players, but the company is not in any hurry to sell any of the assets, Managing Director Reg Nelson said May 15. Beach has so far drilled three vertical wells—Holdfast, Encounter and Moonta— targeting unconventional gas in the region, and has already booked a 2 Tcf contingent resource. Another three horizontal wells and four to five vertical wells are planned for this year, Nelson told Platts on the sidelines of the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association’s annual conference in Adelaide.
