Thai Refining Firm Goes Public

Thai private refiner Star Petroleum Refining (SPRC) will launch an initial public offering (IPO) later this month to sell a 42% stake in the company, which will include the 36% stake owned by state refiner PTT. PTT, which used to be involved in most Thai refineries, has been selling its existing minority stakes as part of a move by the military-led government to reduce the size of the giant state company, heavily criticized for its omnipresence in the country's downstream.
