Belgian Fluxys Has Busy Year

Belgian gas and LNG infrastructure operator Fluxys said its net profit last year was ?247.7 million ($346 million), up 136% on 2009, with a record ?393 million invested. Overall transmission throughput rose 7%. More than half the total volume of gas moved through Fluxys' pipes goes to markets beyond Belgium. Economic recovery and a very cold winter helped lift overall Bel gian gas consumption in 2010 by 11.5% to 19.5 Bcm. Industries directly connected to the Fluxys grid used 14% more, and power plants 2.6% more.
